A long standing partnership between State Service and Cometto continues to deliver results, with the US heavy transport specialist taking delivery of additional self propelled modular transporter equipment to support growing project demands.

Based in Ingleside, Texas, State Service has relied on Cometto SPMTs since 2013, steadily building its fleet in line with increasing payload requirements from energy sector clients. The most recent delivery in January 2026 included four six axle SPMT units, six 8.40 metre spacers and a 368 kW power pack unit. The company now operates a total of 70 SPMT axle lines supported by four power pack units.

The new equipment was rapidly commissioned. Within a day of arrival at the Ingleside facility, two configurations of 18 axle lines were assembled, complete with coupled spacers and power packs, allowing the first transports to proceed later that same week.

The SPMTs were deployed to move the topside structure of an offshore work platform within an open yard operation. After being lifted by four cranes, the base structure was positioned with millimetre precision so the topside could be accurately lowered and welded into place.
