Equipment Safety Systems (EQSS) is extending its secondary guarding technology into the low-level access sector with the launch of UpWatch, while also appointing Certek as its official distributor for Ireland.
UpWatch has been developed specifically for low-level access and push-around vertical platforms, extending EQSS’s LiDAR-based operator protection technology to machines that have traditionally had fewer secondary guarding options.
The system continuously monitors the operator’s position and can intervene when a potential crushing or entrapment hazard is detected. Unlike solutions developed for individual machines or manufacturers, UpWatch has been designed for installation across a broad range of low-level access equipment, making it particularly suited to mixed rental fleets.
“The growth of low-level access has changed how people work at height, but secondary guarding technology hasn’t evolved at the same pace,” said Andrew Delahunt, Global Business Manager at EQSS.
The system will make its official debut at Vertikal Days 2026 at Newark Showground, where it will be demonstrated alongside EQSS’s established OverWatch system for scissor and vertical mast lifts.
Alongside the product launch, EQSS has appointed Mullingar-based Certek as its distributor for Ireland. The company will provide local product supply, spare parts, training, demonstrations and technical support for both OverWatch and UpWatch.
Certek has more than 20 years of experience in the Irish access sector and is an IPAF member.
“One of the major advantages of the EQSS systems is their versatility,” said Certek Managing Director Enda Geoghegan. “They can be retrofitted across different makes and models of equipment, making them a practical solution for rental fleets and contractors operating mixed fleets.”
UpWatch is available to order, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
