Texas is set to lead infrastructure investment in the United States, with more than $146 billion projected for roadway and transport projects under the latest TxDOT transportation plan.
More than $24 billion is expected to be directed towards bridge replacement and preservation, creating significant opportunities for contractors and heavy lifting specialists. The wider US market is also benefiting from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which provides $1.2 trillion in federal funding, including more than $673 billion for transport modernisation.
According to the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, around one third of US bridges require major repairs or replacement. Many projects must be completed while limiting disruption to traffic, placing increasing pressure on contractors to complete critical lifting operations during overnight and weekend closures.
Sarens is positioning its US operations to support this growing workload through its bases in Houston, Beaumont and Odessa. The company is promoting its taxi rental model, allowing high capacity telescopic and all terrain cranes to be mobilised rapidly for short duration lifting operations.
The approach is particularly suited to accelerated bridge construction, where prefabricated bridge sections, girders and structural components must often be removed or installed within tightly controlled closure windows.
Victor Martinez, Country Manager for Sarens USA, said current levels of federal and state infrastructure funding are accelerating projects that must be executed within increasingly demanding schedules.
Sarens has previously supported major bridge and transport infrastructure projects internationally, including the New Champlain Bridge in Montreal and railway bridge replacement programmes in France and Luxembourg.
The company believes its combination of engineering expertise, heavy lifting equipment and rapid mobilisation capacity can support both short duration urban interventions and larger infrastructure projects across Texas and the wider US market.
