Knowles Adds 15 SDC Curtainsiders to Trailer Fleet

The first order from SDC takes the logistics operator’s trailer fleet to 253 units, with EN XL-rated curtainsiders specified for food and fast-moving consumer goods work.

Knowles Logistics has added 15 SDC curtainsider trailers following a trial and driver feedback, expanding the equipment supporting its fleet of around 130 tractor units.

The investment is the operator’s first trailer order from SDC. The new EN XL-rated units are intended for its food and fast-moving consumer goods operations, where load security and dependable handling are central to daily distribution work.

The specification includes pallet restraint systems, internal LED lighting for loading and unloading in low-light conditions, and additional rear-facing work lights to aid reversing. Low rolling resistance tyres are also fitted. The equipment remains close to Knowles’ existing fleet standard, with practical changes intended to improve everyday operations.

The additions take the company’s trailer fleet to 253. They provide further capacity for an operation combining dedicated customer contracts with regional pallet network services.

Alongside its conventional fleet investment, Knowles operates 11 electric heavy goods vehicles. These work on dedicated contracts and within its regional pallet network, illustrating how different vehicle types are being allocated across the business.

The investment follows growth across the business and the onboarding of new customer contracts. Knowles says continued fleet modernisation is intended to improve reliability and provide capacity for future demand.
