Maritime Protection, a Survitec brand specializing in inert gas systems, has secured its largest-ever contract—worth €22.7 million—to supply dry inert gas systems for 24 LNG carriers under construction in China. The vessels are part of Qatar’s second LNG fleet expansion, aimed at meeting rising global demand for liquefied natural gas.

The landmark order includes 21,000 Nm³/h high-capacity generators, to be delivered in phases between 2026 and 2030. The ships are being built for a consortium of five shipowners.

This is a defining contract for us,” said Bernt Øhrn, Managing Director at Maritime Protection. It demonstrates the growing need for advanced safety solutions in LNG shipping.”

Awarded after a rigorous evaluation process, the contract highlights Maritime Protection’s engineering capabilities and long-term support offering. The decision hinged on the maturity and reliability of the system design.

These are among the largest and most advanced LNG vessels ever built,” said Knut Kaupang, Sales Director. “Owners needed absolute confidence in both technology and delivery.”

Each system features a horizontal layout with a combustion chamber, chiller, cooler, and dryer, minimizing hydrocarbon risks and meeting all major classification society standards.

With this deal, Maritime Protection’s dry inert gas systems will equip over 400 gas carriers since 2005—more than half installed in the last five years.
