Shipped as separate pontoons and containerised components, the cutter suction dredger Lady Caroline was reassembled on site to support land reclamation along the River Niger in Asaba.
A modular delivery brought Damen’s CSD600 cutter suction dredger to Nigeria for 4Clans Nig Ltd’s Niger City Project in Asaba, Delta State. Named Lady Caroline, the vessel is working on land reclamation along the River Niger waterfront.
Transport and assembly formed a central part of the delivery. The dredger was disassembled at its building yard in the Netherlands, then shipped to Nigeria as loose pontoons and containerised components. Reassembly took place at the project location.
Damen Field Service Engineers supported commissioning on site and provided crew training and familiarisation, preparing the local team to operate the stationary dredger.
The CSD600 is equipped with a 250kW cutter. For this application, Damen supplied a customised wedge piece for the suction ladder to enable shallow-water dredging, together with an adaptor for the discharge pipeline.
The configuration combines the dredger’s modular transport arrangement with adaptations for the conditions at the Nigerian site. Damen announced the delivery on 22 September, with Lady Caroline supporting the reclamation works for the Niger City development.
