TotalEnergies has announced the acquisition of a major UK renewable energy portfolio from Low Carbon, comprising eight solar projects with a combined capacity of 350 MW and two battery storage projects totaling 85 MW.

The projects, located in southern England, are in an advanced development stage and are expected to be operational by 2028. Once completed, they will generate over 350 GWh of renewable electricity annually—enough to power around 100,000 UK homes.

This acquisition strengthens our integrated electricity portfolio in the UK,” said Olivier Jouny, SVP Renewables at TotalEnergies. It complements our existing assets, which include 1.1 GW of installed offshore wind, 1.3 GW of combined cycle gas, and over 600 MW of solar projects in development.”

Low Carbon’s CEO and founder, Roy Bedlow, highlighted the significance of the agreement: “This transaction delivers one of the UK’s largest ready-to-build portfolios of solar and battery assets. These projects will support the Government’s Clean Power 2030 ambition and demonstrate our commitment to high-quality renewable development.”
