Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) has awarded Seymour Whyte, a subsidiary of VINCI Construction in Australia, with two new contracts worth approximately AUD 385 million (€240 million). The first project is a part of the M1 Pacific Motorway extension that aims to connect Sydney and Brisbane by filling the ‘missing link’ between them.

Seymour Whyte will construct a five-kilometre northern section of the highway that will bypass Heatherbrae town. The design and construction contract has set a target of achieving an ‘Excellent’ Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) Design and As-Constructed Ratings with the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) of Australia and New Zealand.

The second project involves the upgrade of Mulgoa Road in Western Sydney. Seymour Whyte will be working in collaboration with Turnbull Engineering and TfNSW to upgrade a 6.5 km section of the road. Mulgoa Road is a crucial arterial road that sees 52,000 car movements daily and connects the Penrith community with other parts of Greater Sydney. The upgrade will involve the conversion of a section of Mulgoa Road into a six-lane divided road, creating priority public transport lanes, and corridors dedicated to soft mobility.
