Travescaut Saves One Hour Per Transport with MultiMAX

Travescaut is reducing transport times for its heavy construction equipment with a MultiMAX semi-trailer, whose hydraulic widening and forced steering are proving particularly valuable on the narrow and challenging roads encountered during the company’s daily operations.

Following the completion of maintenance work on a stormwater retention basin, drivers Antoine and Nick prepared a 37-tonne tracked excavator for its next assignment. Antoine adjusted the MultiMAX loading platform hydraulically to accommodate the 3.45-metre-wide machine before the excavator was driven onto the trailer and secured for transport.

Travescaut specialises in water-related operations, including excavation, bank maintenance and pond dredging, meaning its equipment frequently needs to reach difficult and muddy locations.

“The hydraulic steering is outstanding,” said Antoine. “And the big advantage: Nick, as escort driver, can position himself at the rear, where I can no longer see everything myself.”

Hydraulic forced steering provides additional manoeuvrability when negotiating narrow roads and difficult sections, while the lift axle assists manoeuvring when the trailer’s full payload capacity is not required.

After approximately 90 minutes on the road, the combination arrived at its next job site in Frasnes-lez-Anvaing, where the excavator was required at a quarry.

For Travescaut Director Pierre Delabassee, one of the MultiMAX’s biggest advantages is its hydraulic widening system, which eliminates the more time-consuming process of widening the loading platform using wooden beams.

“Compared to the classic method with wooden beams, we easily save one hour per transport,” said Delabassee. “That’s a huge gain in time, a concrete cost reduction, and at the same time safer than working with wooden beams.”

The combination of hydraulic widening, forced steering and flexible loading capabilities allows Travescaut to move its heavy machinery more efficiently between demanding job sites while reducing preparation time and simplifying daily transport operations.
