RSS adds pewag load balancer to hire fleet

Rope and Sling Specialists Ltd. has expanded its hire offering with the addition of a 20 tonne capacity pewag levo load balancer, designed to improve precision and safety in lifting operations across multiple industries.

The below the hook device enables loads to be lifted horizontally or at a controlled angle and is commonly used in construction to position steel or concrete structures and bolted connections. By allowing loads to be tilted and aligned in the air, the system reduces manual handling, labour intensity and the risk of damage during installation.

Weighing 450 kg, the unit is currently based at the company’s Rotherham depot but is available for nationwide hire. The load balancer provides remote controlled tilting and rotation, offering an alternative to traditional methods using chain hoists or adjustable slings, which typically require closer operator interaction with the load.

Stephen Littler, regional manager at RSS, said the hydraulic system delivers precise load control and allows the load to find its natural level before locking into position. Additional slings or longer chains can be fitted to increase flexibility depending on application requirements.

The hydraulically driven mechanism reduces energy consumption while maintaining performance under heavy imbalance conditions. An integrated floodlight also supports safe operation in low light environments.

The company expects demand from sectors including infrastructure, machinery installation, crane rental and facade works. In renewables, the balancer can support accurate positioning of solar structures and wind turbine components.

RSS provides a wide range of rigging and material handling equipment supported by training and compliance services, supplying lifting gear to major UK infrastructure projects and industrial clients.
