Zwatra Transport, a part of the Boerman Group, ordered three 2-axle pendular low loaders from Broshuis in October 2023, with delivery completed by July 2024. Four months into operation, the new low loaders are already proving their worth, earning positive feedback for their functionality and design. With these additions, Zwatra Transport now boasts a fleet of 10 Broshuis trailers, further bolstering its transport capabilities across Europe.
The first major project utilizing the new low loaders involved transporting a 5.5-meter-wide chalet from Brouwershaven to Abbenbroek. The sheer width of the chalet added complexity, particularly regarding ground clearance while navigating roundabouts, verges, and curbs. Broshuis designed the trailers with slim beams, measuring just 200 mm, and integrated a fully remote-controlled hydraulic gooseneck and axle assembly. This innovation grants drivers complete control over ground clearance and load height, ensuring precise adjustments during transport. According to Broshuis, remote operation capability is standard in their trailers, emphasizing ease of use and safety—a crucial consideration for Zwatra’s demanding operations.
The multifunctional design of the new low loaders has further enhanced their versatility. In addition to transporting chalets, the trailers can accommodate a variety of loads, including containers, steel structures, boats, and cable reels. Notably, the beams are positioned inward for cable reel transport, allowing the reel’s flanges to sit beside the beams rather than on top, which reduces transport height. This design flexibility aligns well with Zwatra’s need for adaptable transport solutions, which are now easier than ever for drivers to operate thanks to the trailer’s hydraulic steering and remote control.
Drivers at Zwatra commend the new low loaders for their ease of use, citing improved maneuverability in challenging conditions and enhanced safety. Zwatra Transport’s leadership shares this enthusiasm, expressing satisfaction with the trailer’s performance and durability.
