Blue Water Shipping has announced the appointment of Ryan Foley as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Energy, Ports & Projects, marking the company’s first Board of Management member from outside Denmark. Foley, who is from the UK, will assume his role in January 2026.

Initially introduced earlier this year as the incoming Senior Vice President of Projects, Foley will now step directly into the COO position. His appointment follows the leadership transition in early 2025, when former COO Thomas Bek became CEO.

“I’m very pleased that Ryan has accepted the role,” said CEO Thomas Bek. “As a global logistics company, welcoming our first international Board member is a natural milestone. Beyond his strong track record, Ryan is an excellent fit for our values and culture. I’m very confident he will do a fantastic job.”

Foley previously served as CEO of Industrial Projects at DHL Global Forwarding, leading major turnkey projects and developing logistics infrastructure for the global energy sector.

Foley highlighted his enthusiasm for joining Blue Water at a pivotal moment: “Together, I want to continue building on Blue Water’s reputation for tailored, safe and scalable project logistics. With colleagues across the globe, I am confident we will deliver value across major capital-intensive projects.”

In his new role, Foley will oversee strategy and execution within Energy, Ports & Projects, covering sectors such as energy, infrastructure, renewables, mining and industrial development. He will also ensure alignment across regional project teams.

Based in London, Foley will lead Blue Water’s teams across Europe, Oceania, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East/Africa, strengthening the company’s global project logistics footprint.
