OBT is establishing a permanent presence in Mauritania as mining, energy, offshore, infrastructure and oil and gas activity drives growing demand for shipping and project logistics services in the country.
The new operation will support customers through Nouakchott and Nouadhibou, two of Mauritania’s principal ports, while connecting local execution with OBT’s wider African network and Dubai headquarters.
Services will include shipping agency, freight forwarding, customs clearance, husbandry, project logistics, heavy-lift operations, warehousing, inland transport and last-mile delivery.
Nouakchott Port serves the capital as well as southern and central Mauritania, while Nouadhibou plays an important role in the country’s mining and industrial sectors.
OBT already has operational experience in the market. Recent work included a logistics project involving 33 containers, with offloading, temporary storage and distribution to more than 20 destinations.
The company has also handled heavy-lift and project cargo movements involving oversized equipment, specialised lifting, port coordination and inland transport, alongside vessel agency and husbandry services.

“Mauritania is a natural next step for OBT. Customers increasingly want clear accountability throughout a job. That enables us to plan earlier, make decisions faster and adapt when conditions change,” said Youssef Bouricha, Mauritania Country Manager at OBT.
The expansion is intended to give international customers a single point of coordination across port operations, customs, transporters, stevedores, suppliers and final receivers.
For OBT, the Mauritania launch represents another step in the continued expansion of its African shipping and project logistics network.
