Total Movements has successfully completed the transportation of six heavy lift Gas Processing Units (GPUs) from India to the Middle East for one of the region’s largest gas production projects.

The operation involved the door to port delivery of cargo with a combined volume of approximately 12,800 cbm, including the heaviest unit weighing 1,400 tonnes. Total Movements managed the transport from the supplier’s manufacturing facility to the load out jetty before loading the units onto two dedicated deck carrier vessels for shipment to the Middle East.

The project required specialised axle configurations for the transport of the oversized units, followed by roll on operations onto the vessels, river sea transportation and roll off operations at the discharge port.

Among the key challenges were handling the ultra heavy cargo, operating within narrow tidal windows and maintaining vessel stability during the loading of the 1,400 tonne module. To address these requirements, Total Movements developed customised axle configurations, carried out detailed vessel load distribution analysis, implemented precise tidal planning and completed marine warranty surveyor approved sea fastening calculations.

The company coordinated every stage of the operation with a strong focus on engineering, safety and project execution. Close collaboration between all stakeholders and strict adherence to HSE standards ensured the complex transport campaign was completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.

A member of the Worldwide Project Consortium, Total Movements continues to support major energy and industrial developments by delivering specialised logistics solutions for heavy and oversized cargo across international markets.
