DP World’s Shipping Solutions business has named its new methanol dual-fuel container vessel, DP World London, during a ceremony in Aarhus, Denmark.
The 1,250 TEU vessel was built in China and delivered in April 2026. Owned by Germany’s Elbdeich Reederei and operated by DP World Shipping Solutions, it will operate on the North Europe service.
Measuring 148 metres in length, DP World London features a five-cylinder main engine and Exhaust Gas Recirculation technology. Its dual-fuel capability forms part of DP World’s investment in lower-emission maritime transport and fleet modernisation.
The vessel completed its first methanol bunkering in Rotterdam on 25 June, with Unibarge handling the bunkering operation and Methanex supplying the fuel.
“This methanol dual-fuel vessel is a tangible example of how DP World is investing in practical innovation to provide customers with more reliable, flexible and lower-emission shipping solutions,” said Ganesh Raj, Global Chief Operating Officer, Marine Services at DP World.
The naming in Aarhus also reflects the history of Shipping Solutions, which was founded in the Danish city as Unifeeder in 1977 and has since developed into a major feeder and shortsea operator.
DP World London follows the recent introduction of DP World Indus to the company’s coastal shipping fleet in India.
