Liebherr has delivered its LTM 1150-5.4 mobile crane to Knorr Kranverleih e.K., marking the German crane rental company’s first investment in a Liebherr crane and its entry into the 150 tonne lifting class.
Based in Hollenstedt near Hamburg, Knorr selected the five axle crane to expand its capabilities across concrete construction, infrastructure, industrial and energy projects. Featuring a 66 metre telescopic boom, the LTM 1150-5.4 combines high lifting performance with the flexibility of taxi crane operation, allowing it to work without an additional ballast truck and reducing transport costs.
Managing Director Isa Karaxha explained the reasoning behind the investment: “A 130-tonne crane wouldn’t have made any difference to us. A 150-tonne crane certainly would. And if we’re going to buy a Liebherr, we’re going to do it properly and go for the most modern model.”
The crane’s LICCON3 control system, VarioBase support system and modern cab design were among the key factors behind the purchase. Equally important was Liebherr’s after-sales support.
“You know that enquiries will always be dealt with reliably,” said Karaxha. “Furthermore, the purchase of our first Liebherr crane represents a clear commitment to ‘made in Germany’. We’re proud to now have a Liebherr crane in our fleet for the first time.”
The LTM 1150-5.4 entered service immediately after delivery, completing its first assignment in prefabricated house construction in Schneverdingen. Operating with nine tonnes of onboard ballast in taxi configuration, the crane lifted several tonne concrete components and completed the project in just three hours.
