Spanish crane company Grúas Aguilar is expanding and modernising its fleet with an order for 15 Liebherr mobile and crawler cranes, including a new 800-tonne flagship.
The investment is led by the LR 1800-1.0 crawler crane, now the most powerful crane in the company’s fleet, alongside an LTM 1400-6.1 mobile crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 450 tonnes. The latter is the first unit of its type to be delivered in Spain.
The order also includes an LTM 1300-6.4 with a 90-metre telescopic boom, several LTM 1060-3.1, LTM 1090-4.3 and LTM 1100-5.3 mobile cranes, and an MK 140-5.1E mobile construction crane. Deliveries are already underway and will continue in stages until the first quarter of 2027.
The LR 1800-1.0 has already completed its first project for Grúas Aguilar in Madrid, assisting with the installation of the ‘Mayrit’ tunnel boring machine for an expansion of the city’s underground network. The crane is also suited to industrial, power generation, petrochemical and wind energy projects.
With operations in Madrid, Barcelona, Mallorca and Tarragona, Grúas Aguilar is strengthening its capacity for projects in Spain and international markets.
“Today, almost 90 per cent of our mobile and crawler crane fleet comes from Liebherr. The decisive factors here are the reliability of the machines, the high quality of service and the continuous technological development of the products,” said Luis Aguilar, owner of the Aguilar Group.
The relationship between Grúas Aguilar and Liebherr dates back to the establishment of Liebherr Ibérica in 1988, with the latest investment continuing a partnership spanning almost four decades.
