Around 250 people are expected to work on the production vessel’s topsides design, while module fabrication remains a separate future award and an investment decision is planned for late 2027.

The Wisting partnership selected Aibel for front-end engineering and design of the project’s production-vessel topsides, following a competitive tender involving Norwegian suppliers.

The work will develop the design and provide a basis for deciding whether to proceed with project execution. The award includes an option for engineering, procurement and project management, but does not cover fabrication of the topside modules. That contract will be awarded later.

According to Aibel, approximately 250 people will be involved in the FEED work. The partnership plans to select a concept and decide whether to progress Wisting towards the end of 2026, ahead of a potential investment decision in late 2027.

Equinor said considerable work remains to establish a profitable and feasible development. The project therefore remains at an early stage, with the engineering award supporting its maturation rather than confirming construction.

The licence partners are Equinor Energy with 42.5%, Aker BP with 27.5%, Petoro with 20% and INPEX Idemitsu Norge with 10%.
