Yusen Logistics Global Management Co., Ltd. (YLGM) and AGL Kenya Limited, a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics (AGL), have signed a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA), marking a significant milestone in the expansion of logistics services across the African continent.

The agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Paris in April 2025, which laid the groundwork for a long-term strategic partnership in Africa. Under the terms of the JVA, YLGM and AGL Kenya intend to establish a new joint venture company in January, subject to the receipt of all required regulatory approvals.

The new company will provide a comprehensive range of services, including freight forwarding, multimodal transport, contract logistics, and customs brokerage. Leveraging Kenya’s strategic position as a key gateway to East Africa, Yusen Logistics aims to strengthen its logistics capabilities across the wider East African region.

Hiroyuki Okamoto, President and COO of YLGM, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to delivering world-class logistics solutions across Africa while creating new opportunities for sustainable growth. Stanislas de Saint Louvent, CEO Africa Logistics & Shipping at AGL, added that combining AGL’s regional expertise with YLGM’s global network will significantly enhance service offerings and improve connectivity between Africa and the global economy.
