After more than three years of construction, the new Aurach Valley Bridge near the Regau junction in Upper Austria opened to traffic in early September. The project, part of the A1 West Motorway, relied on three WOLFF 7534.16 Clear cranes supplied by Habau, a long-standing Wolffkran customer, working in joint venture with Porr.
Installed in 2022, the flat-top cranes were mounted on towers up to 77.6 meters high and offered a maximum load capacity of 16.5 tons. They played a central role in both demolition and reconstruction, handling reinforcing steel, formwork, precast elements, concrete, and even construction vehicles. Freestanding lifts reached up to 13 tons.

The cranes remained on site until March 2025, when dismantling was carried out under challenging conditions, with highway traffic, railway lines, and a stream limiting available space. Strict safety and water protection regulations also had to be observed. Careful planning, supported by Wolffkran experts, ensured smooth operations. The cranes were fitted with slew limiters and cameras to enhance precision and safety.
To minimize disruption, a temporary side-position bridge was built to maintain traffic flow. The old structure was then demolished, followed by construction of the new bridge in its final position. In spring 2025, engineers executed the spectacular lateral shift of the deck from the temporary bridge onto the new piers using hydraulic systems and sliding tracks.
Habau has partnered with Wolffkran since 2008, valuing the WOLFF 7534.16 Clear for its high load capacity and impressive freestanding hook height.
