Huisman has won a contract to deliver two 250mt Knuckle Boom Cranes for the Olympic Group’s new UT 7623 SEV Sustainable Energy Vessels. Signed last month with China Merchants Heavy Industries (CMHI) in Shenzhen, the deal follows a string of recent crane deliveries to the offshore construction market.

The cranes will feature Huisman’s proprietary Active Heave Compensation (AHC) system, which connects the electric crane setup to the vessel’s power grid. This integration enables energy regeneration back to the vessel’s storage system, significantly reducing net energy consumption during lifting operations.

“This project pushes the boundaries of energy efficiency and reliability,” said Cees van Veluw, Product Director Cranes at Huisman. Our partnership with Olympic, CMHI, and Kongsberg Maritime reflects a shared focus on sustainable innovation in offshore lifting.”

With a 250mt lifting capacity, deepwater AHC main and auxiliary hoists, and advanced energy efficiency, these cranes are designed to meet the high-performance demands of the next generation of offshore vessels.
