Haropa Port has entrusted a Vinci Construction-led consortium (62% Vinci via subsidiary Terélian, 38% DEME) with building La Chatière, a crucial river link to Port 2000 in Le Havre. The €183 million project involves constructing a 1,800-metre river channel, set to open in 2027, providing direct access between Port 2000 and the Seine river basin—France’s largest job and consumer market.

This strategic infrastructure will reduce carbon emissions, improve logistics safety, and boost river-based container transport. The project includes an initial phase to clear unexploded ordnances, requiring specialized expertise. Several Vinci Construction subsidiaries, including Océlian (maritime works), Navarra TS, and Cardem Pyro (soil remediation), will support the development.

Vinci Construction’s role in La Chatière reinforces its expertise in port infrastructure, following recent upgrades at La Cotinière and Brest ports. The company is also engaged in projects such as the Porto-Vecchio marina, the Port-la-Nouvelle commercial port extension, and onshore power supply installations for cruise ships in Le Havre.
