As wind turbine components grow larger and project schedules become tighter, deugro is expanding its European logistics network with a new dedicated handling and storage hub in Antwerp.
Commissioned in June 2026 for a major global wind turbine manufacturer, the facility is designed to accommodate the full range of WTG components, including rotor blades, nacelles and tower sections, with dedicated storage, heavy-lift handling and pre-assembly space.
The Antwerp operation is deugro’s fourth dedicated wind logistics setup established within a short period, following facilities in Lindø at the Port of Odense, Wilhelmshaven and Brake.
High-capacity cranes and specialised handling equipment support vessel discharge and terminal operations, while the site offers direct access to road, rail and inland waterways for onward transport to projects across Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and wider Europe.
Its location on the Rhine-Scheldt corridor also allows oversized and heavy turbine components to be moved by inland barge.
“With direct access to Europe’s road, rail and inland waterway networks, the Antwerp setup offers flexible connectivity to project sites across Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and beyond,” said Wouter Gielen, Branch Manager, deugro Antwerp.
The facility began handling cargo shortly after commissioning, with the first vessel discharges completed in July 2026 followed by storage and terminal handling operations.
deugro said the hub is intended to provide scalable storage capacity and greater supply chain flexibility as wind turbine components continue to increase in size.
“As turbine dimensions increase and project schedules become more demanding, strategically located logistics hubs are becoming essential to ensuring supply chain reliability, scalability and execution certainty,” said Peter Ehrhorn, Director Onshore Wind & Cables at deugro.
The Antwerp development strengthens deugro’s growing European infrastructure network for wind and renewable energy logistics.
