Mammoet and ULC-Energy have signed a cooperation agreement to support the development of nuclear power facilities in the Netherlands.

The partnership focuses on improving the efficiency of constructing new-generation nuclear plants, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), as part of the country’s broader strategy to deliver low-carbon, reliable energy.

Mammoet brings decades of experience in heavy lifting and transport across the nuclear sector, including assembly, maintenance and decommissioning projects worldwide. The company is also advancing modular construction techniques, enabling large components to be fabricated off-site and installed efficiently, reducing overall project timelines.

ULC-Energy is working on the deployment of multiple SMRs in the Netherlands and Belgium, contributing to the growing role of nuclear energy in Europe’s energy transition.

“We believe nuclear power will play an important role in future low-carbon energy systems,” said Dirk Rabelink, CEO of ULC-Energy. “This cooperation demonstrates the opportunities for Dutch supply-chain companies to support new nuclear developments.

Alex Scott, Global Sector Lead for Nuclear at Mammoet, added: “We are delighted to support the Netherlands in delivering carbon-free energy. Working with a partner familiar with Rolls-Royce SMR technology allows us to contribute from the early stages of project development.”
