Mammoet has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Electricité de France (EDF) during the World Nuclear Exhibition 2025 in Paris. The agreement sets out a collaboration to develop technologies and methodologies that will enhance the construction efficiency of new nuclear facilities in the Netherlands.

Supported by the Dutch government’s upcoming nuclear program, the partnership comes at a time when accelerating low-carbon energy projects is vital to meeting 2030 and 2050 climate goals.

With decades of experience in modular construction for the global energy sector, Mammoet will apply its advanced lifting and transport expertise to enable faster, more sustainable nuclear builds. Its technologies—such as large ring cranes and electric Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs)—allow for simultaneous construction of multiple units using pre-assembled components produced at specialized facilities worldwide.

Mammoet’s SK6000, the world’s strongest 6,000-tonne capacity land-based crane, exemplifies this innovation, operating sustainably from local electricity grids.

Joost Goderie, CEO of Mammoet, stated:
“We are proud to be working directly with EDF to accelerate the carbon-neutral energy transition in Europe. Together, we will reduce the timescale needed to bring carbon-neutral facilities online.”

Vakisasai Ramany, EDF’s Senior Vice-President for International Nuclear Development, added:
“By combining the expertise of Europe’s largest nuclear operator with Mammoet’s engineering capabilities, we aim to deliver significant efficiency gains for the Dutch nuclear program.”

Mammoet has previously supported EDF’s Hinkley Point C project in the UK, installing both Reactor Pressure Vessels and steam generators.
