Triumph in Transportation: 10,000-tonne historic move sets triple records

In a groundbreaking feat of engineering and logistics, China Shipping Vastwin Project Logistics has achieved a remarkable triple record by successfully transporting a complex of historical buildings, weighing a total of 10,000 tonnes, over a distance of 600 meters. This extraordinary accomplishment, made possible through the utilization of 300 Scheuerle SPMT (Self-Propelled Modular Transporter) axle lines, has set new benchmarks in heavy-load transportation.

The challenging task was undertaken in response to environmental protection requirements in China, where historical buildings often need to be relocated. The Ningxia Saishang Jiangnan Museum, situated in the north of the country, faced the need for relocation to make way for the Yellow River floodplain landscape.

China Shipping Vastwin Project Logistics, a subsidiary of the state-owned shipping company China Ocean Shipping Group (Cosco), was entrusted with the monumental responsibility of moving five distinct buildings, each as a single entity, covering a distance of 600 meters and overcoming a height difference of three meters. The complex included a main building weighing 10,000 tonnes, two 2,000-tonne outbuildings, an archway, and a partition wall, each weighing 1,000 tonnes.

To execute this extraordinary move, 300 Scheuerle SPMT axle lines and ten Power Pack Units (PPUs) from TII Scheuerle were deployed. The main building, towering at 43 meters in height, 36.9 meters in length, and 31.5 meters in width, represented the heaviest individual transport, weighing a total of 11,450 tonnes.

China Shipping Vastwin Project Logistics not only successfully accomplished the relocation but also secured three notable records. The main building became the heaviest and tallest load ever moved in China, potentially setting a global benchmark. The transportation covered the longest distance ever recorded in China for a building exceeding 1,000 tonnes, and it conquered the steepest incline ever faced along a transport route.

This achievement follows in the footsteps of previous remarkable feats, such as the transportation of a 7,500-tonne hotel by Sinotrans Heavy-Lift Co. using 254 SPMT axle lines. The recent triple record set by China Shipping Vastwin Project Logistics has now taken center stage, underscoring the exceptional capabilities of the Scheuerle SPMT modules.
