MAX Trailers Move Modular Homes

MAX Trailer is supporting the growing modular construction sector with specialised transport solutions used by SCG Logistics to deliver prefabricated residential units across the Benelux region.

At the production facility of SC Steelframes in Houthalen-Helchteren, Belgium, fully equipped modular living units are manufactured for projects in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. As demand for modular housing continues to grow, efficient transport has become a key part of the construction process.

To support this work, SCG Logistics has expanded its fleet with five MAX110 semi-trailers and five MAX510 low-bed trailers, designed to transport oversized residential modules safely and efficiently.

Once production is complete, the modules are transferred from the factory using a gantry transport system before being positioned with centimetre precision onto the trailers. The transport operation requires close coordination between drivers and spotters, particularly when handling units measuring up to 10 metres in length, 5.10 metres in width and 3.75 metres in height.

The MAX510 low-bed trailer features a telescopic loading deck that can be adjusted to match the dimensions of each module, while its 17.5 inch pendle axles provide the manoeuvrability needed to negotiate narrow access roads and confined construction sites.

Following loading and securing, the transport combinations depart during the evening to minimise traffic disruption and ensure timely delivery to construction sites, where the modules can be installed quickly after arrival.

As modular construction continues to gain momentum across Europe, specialised transport equipment such as the MAX110 and MAX510 is playing an increasingly important role in connecting factory production with efficient on-site assembly.
