MSG Krandienst GmbH has praised the performance of its new Liebherr MK 120-5.1E mobile construction crane after nine months of operation, highlighting its versatility, lifting performance and efficiency on a wide range of installation projects.

Based in Kehl, Germany, MSG was among the first companies to take delivery of the latest addition to Liebherr’s MK series. The five-axle mobile construction crane replaced an older MK 110 model and now joins an existing fleet that already includes the MK 63, MK 80 and MK 88.

The crane is primarily used for projects requiring long outreach, including the installation of air conditioning units, ventilation systems, roof insulation and steel structures.

“The concept behind Liebherr’s new mobile construction crane won me over completely straight away,” said Björn Jatz, Managing Director of MSG Krandienst GmbH“It’s been performing very well so far. We are absolutely delighted with the purchase.”

A standout feature of the MK 120-5.1E is its new three-stage outrigger system, which enables flexible setup in confined working environments. Operators can configure the outriggers at different extension lengths, allowing the crane to adapt to challenging site conditions.

“The machine has really become very comfortable,” said Kevin Meier, crane operator at MSG“The three-stage stabilisation makes setting up the crane in confined spaces much easier and has already proved extremely helpful on several occasions.”

The crane also features an efficient ballast concept, carrying 4.8 tonnes of standard ballast with the option of an additional three-tonne package to further enhance lifting performance. According to MSG, the configuration delivers excellent lifting capacities while maintaining high operational efficiency.

“The well-balanced counterweight concept, combined with the lifting capacity and reach, simply makes the MK 120-5.1E a superb crane,” added Björn Jatz“For us as operators, it is a very cost-efficient machine.”

MSG Krandienst operates a fleet of 55 mobile cranes, around 70 percent of which are Liebherr models, and provides crane rental and project logistics services throughout Germany and neighbouring France.
