Liège Airport brought together its cargo community for the first-ever CARGOLAND Gala Dinner, celebrating record cargo growth, recognising industry achievements and outlining ambitious expansion plans for the future.
Held at the Van Der Valk Sélys Liège Hotel, the event welcomed 150 representatives from 60 companies across the air cargo and logistics sector. Alongside networking activities and an awards ceremony, airport executives highlighted the strong performance that has positioned Liège as one of Europe’s fastest-growing cargo hubs.
The airport reported back-to-back annual cargo growth of 16 percent and 14 percent in 2024 and 2025 respectively, followed by a further 16 percent increase during the first quarter of 2026, making it the strongest opening quarter in the airport’s history.
“We have airline workers, handlers, e-commerce leaders and partners from across the cargo ecosystem,” said Laurent Jossart. “These results come from the ecosystem, partnerships, trust in the airport and trust in your own ability to grow.”
During the evening, several companies were recognised for outstanding contributions to the cargo sector. Awards were presented to Atlas Air, Kuehne+Nagel, Network Aviation Group, Ethiopian Airlines and Swissport.
“The aim of the Gala Dinner is to strengthen Liège Airport’s cargo community by bringing together key stakeholders in a setting that fosters trust, connection and collaboration beyond daily operations,” said Frederic Brun, vice president sales and marketing.
Looking ahead, Liège Airport confirmed plans to double its cargo capacity by 2040 through investments exceeding US$500 million in infrastructure, operational efficiency and logistics integration, reinforcing its ambitions to remain a leading European cargo gateway.
