Liebherr has delivered its first 440 HC-L luffing jib crane to long-standing customer John Paul Construction for the Donore Project in Dublin, marking a major technological milestone in their decades-long partnership.

The 440 HC-L is the latest addition to Liebherr’s high-performance tower crane portfolio. With a maximum lifting capacity of 24 tonnes and 3.9 tonnes at a 65-metre radius, the crane is specifically engineered for dense urban construction environments. Its compact design and advanced control systems – including EMS-4, TC-OS with a 12-inch display, and the precision-oriented Litronic system – enable safe, intuitive, and efficient operation on challenging job sites.

Currently operating alongside five other Liebherr tower cranes on-site, the 440 HC-L is playing a central role in the delivery of the Donore Project. Located in Dublin’s south inner city, this major residential development will bring 542 new homes—389 cost-rental and 153 social housing apartments—alongside public amenities and green spaces. The project is a joint initiative by the Land Development Agency and Dublin City Council to meet the city’s pressing housing needs.

After more than 50 years of collaboration, we’re proud to support John Paul Construction with the latest in lifting innovation,” said a Liebherr representative. “The 440 HC-L embodies the performance and reliability needed for transformative urban developments.”
