Henrik Andersen, Group President and CEO of Vestas, has been elected as the new Chair of WindEurope for an 18-month term. WindEurope, the leading industry association for wind energy in Europe, represents over 600 companies and supports 300,000 jobs across the sector.
Andersen’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for the wind industry as Europe accelerates its energy transition and aims to strengthen industrial competitiveness. His tenure will see the finalization and implementation of key regulatory frameworks at the national level, shaping the future of the sector.
“We are at a defining moment for Europe’s future,” said Andersen. “Wind energy is vital for delivering home-grown, secure, and affordable energy while reinforcing Europe’s competitiveness. The European Commission and member states have set ambitious targets, but this momentum must translate into real implementation. I am honored to lead WindEurope at such a crucial time and look forward to working alongside Vice-Chair Rasmus Errboe.”
As Chair, Andersen aims to drive European competitiveness, accelerate electrification, and strengthen wind energy’s market environment. He emphasizes that wind energy is key to Europe’s energy independence, affordability, and security. He also highlights the need for policies that facilitate electrification and ensure efficient permitting, viable wind projects, and improved grid infrastructure to support industry growth.
The WindEurope Board also appointed Rasmus Errboe, Group President and CEO of Ørsted, as its new Vice-Chair, reinforcing the association’s commitment to advancing Europe’s wind energy ambitions.
