Wolffkran has introduced the WOLFF 8038 Clear, a flat top crane designed to meet the demands of large-scale modular and prefabricated construction projects, such as airports, data centers, and industrial facilities. Combining high lifting capacity with streamlined assembly, this latest addition marks Wolffkran’s largest flat top crane to date, competing in the 560 mt class.

“Large cranes are in demand as modular construction continues to grow globally,” said Mohamed Abouelezz, Head of Business Development and Product Management at Wolffkran. “The WOLFF 8038 Clear delivers hammerhead crane performance while offering the assembly advantages of flat top design.”

With an 80-meter jib length and a maximum lifting capacity of 20 tons, the WOLFF 8038 Clear excels in heavy lifting operations. At the full jib radius, it achieves a 3.8-ton point load, and an optional extension increases the jib length to 85 meters, still lifting 2.1 tons at the tip.

The WOLFF 8038 Clear also introduces a smarter and lighter jib. With a patented plug connection for the top chord, assembly is simplified and hammer-free. “We’ve optimized the lower chord design to reduce material costs by 10% and assembly weights by 20%,” noted Wouter van Loon, Project Manager at Wolffkran. The heaviest single component weighs just 15 tons, further easing transport and setup.

The WOLFF 8038 Clear prioritizes ergonomics and efficiency for assembly crews. Bolt depots ensure bolts are pre-positioned for overhead installations, reducing physical strain. Features such as foldable railings, auxiliary cranes, and extra platforms simplify divided jib assembly and maintenance tasks.

Equipped with options such as the WOLFF High-Speed Positioning System (HiSPS) and a second brake on the hoist winch, the crane enhances both safety and precision. A new under-hook camera system, soon to be available, will enable operators to monitor loads seamlessly at any height or jib position.

The crane offers two hoist winch options: a 75 kW version for speeds up to 132 m/min and a 110 kW option reaching 190 m/min, with a U.S. version also available. The hoist winch performance can be reduced by up to 50% to minimize energy use where full capacity is unnecessary.

For versatility, the WOLFF 8038 Clear can be mounted on a 2.3-meter tower or a 2.0-meter tower, making it ideal for tight spaces like elevator shafts. Transport efficiency is equally impressive, with the crane capable of being moved using just six trucks.
