Wagenborg Begins New Leadership Chapter

Rate this post

Niels Wage and Janneke Hermes have taken over the day-to-day leadership of Royal Wagenborg following the retirement of Egbert Vuursteen after 40 years with the Dutch family-owned maritime and logistics group.

Wage becomes CEO, while Hermes takes on the role of CFO, marking the transition from the fourth generation of the Vuursteen family to a new executive leadership team.

Vuursteen spent four decades with Wagenborg and played a central role in the development of the company, with continuity, long-term relationships and the future of the business remaining key themes throughout his tenure.

The leadership change opens a new chapter for Wagenborg while maintaining the long-term direction of the family-owned group.

On the day of his retirement, Vuursteen was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau in recognition of his contribution to the maritime sector and the Northern Netherlands region.

The distinction was presented by Ben Visser, Mayor of the municipality of Eemsdelta, reflecting Vuursteen’s wider involvement in the maritime industry and regional business community.
