DBMatic, part of De Boer Marine, and Weforsea Shipping have joined forces to launch MariControl, a new maritime technology company combining vessel hardware, software, connectivity and AI-driven data analysis.
The new company builds on a long-standing collaboration between the two businesses. Their technology is already installed on more than 250 vessels, including fishing trawler UK225 Auke Senior, where onboard sensors and hardware are integrated with software covering voyage optimisation, energy efficiency, market data and weather information.
MariControl will target the shipping and fishing sectors, providing a single environment for collecting and analysing vessel data. Applications will include performance monitoring, predictive maintenance, weather routing, fuel and emissions optimisation, digital reporting and compliance.
“The future of the maritime industry does not lie in standalone systems, but in one intelligent ecosystem where data, hardware and AI work seamlessly together,” said MariControl Managing Director Louwe Post. “MariControl brings those elements together in one platform.”
Digital reporting and compliance will be among the company’s initial areas of focus, using existing vessel data to reduce administrative workloads without necessarily requiring significant additional onboard hardware.
MariControl will initially focus on the Netherlands and wider European market before pursuing international expansion. The company will also be introduced to the maritime industry at SMM Hamburg.
