Broekman Logistics has strengthened its heavy lift capabilities in the Port of Rotterdam with the addition of a Liebherr LHM 800 mobile harbour crane, one of the largest models in Liebherr’s mobile harbour crane portfolio.

Nicknamed Titan 1, the new crane offers a lifting capacity of up to 308 tonnes and has been specifically engineered to meet the operational requirements of Broekman’s heavy lift terminal. Custom supporting pads were developed to suit the quay structure, ensuring optimal load distribution while maintaining high lifting performance and operational flexibility.

The investment supports Broekman’s growing project cargo and breakbulk activities, which include direct vessel handling, heavy lift storage, marshalling services and the handling of oversized and out of gauge cargo.

“The LHM 800 gives us the lifting performance and flexibility to handle larger and more complex cargo at our quayside,”said Rob van Dijk, Director Terminal & Shipping at Broekman Logistics. “Combined with our indoor lifting capacity of 700 tonnes by overhead crane, it strengthens our position as a heavy lift specialist in Rotterdam.”

The crane’s deployment represents a significant addition to Rotterdam’s industrial logistics infrastructure, enhancing cargo handling capabilities for customers across the Netherlands, Germany and wider Europe.

The project required close collaboration between Broekman and Liebherr due to the challenging ground conditions at the terminal. Engineers developed a tailored support arrangement that allows the crane to operate efficiently while meeting strict quay load requirements.

“This project shows what can be achieved when a customer’s operational vision is matched by focused engineering and close cooperation,” said Andreas Ritschel, General Manager Sales Mobile Harbour Cranes at Liebherr-Rostock GmbH. “We are proud to deliver a solution that fulfils the technical requirements of the site while supporting the customer’s next stage of growth.”
