Felbermayr Holding has increased its shareholding in Rijnmond Logistics Beheer BV from 50 to 65 percent, reinforcing its long term commitment to inland shipping and multimodal logistics across Europe. Together with Haeger & Schmidt Logistics, the move further strengthens the group’s position within the European inland waterway network.

The expanded investment follows Felbermayr’s initial entry into Rijnmond Logistics in October 2023. According to Stefan Hütten, COO of Haeger & Schmidt Logistics, the successful cooperation between the companies played a major role in the decision to deepen the partnership. The latest development also follows the departure of Rijnmond co founder and shareholder Gerrit Drenth.

Since joining the Felbermayr Group, Rijnmond Logistics has rapidly integrated operations with HSL’s inland navigation and intermodal divisions. Close cooperation between teams in Papendrecht and Ridderkerk, combined with direct access to the Port of Rotterdam, has already generated operational benefits. The combined portfolio now strengthens both dry bulk and container shipping activities, while Rijnmond’s owned and long term chartered vessels add further transport capacity.

The partnership is strategically focused on key European waterways including the Rhine and Moselle corridors and traffic linked to the ARA ports. Cargoes include agricultural products, building materials, ores, coal and steel. The network is also supported by terminal operations in Linz, Vienna, Krefeld, Duisburg, Andernach, Kehl and Antwerp, allowing integrated transport solutions across inland waterways, road and rail.

Future plans include investment in modern vessels and alternative propulsion technologies as the partners continue to develop more sustainable logistics services for European transport markets.
