Chapman Freeborn has once again proven its agility and expertise by arranging the urgent delivery of critical aircraft parts from Paris to Athens in less than 24 hours, helping an airline avoid prolonged delays caused by an AOG (Aircraft On Ground) event.
In May 2025, the charter specialist responded swiftly to a client’s emergency request to deliver vital components from Paris Vatry Airport (XCR) to Athens International Airport (ATH). With every hour of AOG potentially costing tens of thousands of euros, the mission required precise coordination and rapid execution.
“The task was incredibly time-critical. Our client had tight schedules and high-stakes contracts depending on this delivery,” said Taz Mears, Cargo Charter Broker at Chapman Freeborn. “Reaction time and efficiency are key in such situations.”
To meet the challenge, Chapman Freeborn deployed an Antonov AN-26 turboprop aircraft—chosen for its ideal cargo hold and rapid loading capabilities. The team also had to navigate the complex task of obtaining all necessary permits at short notice.
Despite these hurdles, the cargo landed in Athens within 24 hours of the initial call, and the grounded aircraft departed ahead of schedule—demonstrating flawless coordination and forward planning.
“Our experience in urgent charters made all the difference. Even though we faced delays in securing permits, our team’s persistence ensured success,” Mears noted. “We anticipated challenges and had solutions ready.”
