August Alborn, a heavy goods haulier from Dortmund, has strengthened its fleet by acquiring several Scheuerle K25 axle lines, further solidifying its over six-decade-long relationship with TII Scheuerle. Managing Director Helmut Alborn highlighted that the decision to purchase the K25 axle lines was influenced by their technical capabilities, price-performance ratio, and, most importantly, the high level of transport safety they offer.
The K25 modular platform vehicles are specifically designed to meet the demands of transporting heavy and complex loads, including transformers and rail vehicles. With a range of configurations from two to six axles, the K25 axle lines allow for the transport of unit weights between 80 and 130 tonnes. The new addition to Alborn’s fleet significantly increases their capacity, enabling them to handle loads up to 180 tonnes on the road and 400 tonnes in-house, while offering ample payload reserves for future projects.

These axle lines are engineered for transporting loads with a high center of gravity. Despite their robust 19.5-inch tyres, the K25 maintains a low loading height of 875 millimetres when lowered, making it ideal for transporting oversized loads with minimal clearance. The vehicle’s modular design also includes a track width of 2,100 millimetres, the largest available for pendulum axle vehicles, ensuring maximum stability during transport.

Helmut Alborn placed significant importance on the safety features of the K25, specifically the inclusion of RUD’s ACP-Turnado screwable lashing points, which provide a strength of up to 25,000 daN. These lashing points, combined with high-quality lashing chains from RUD, ensure the secure and reliable transport of heavy loads. Alborn emphasized that this advanced lashing system, along with a torsion-resistant frame, offers unmatched transport security and minimizes physical strain on personnel.

The decision to invest in these cutting-edge safety features, despite their additional cost, reflects Alborn’s commitment to ensuring the highest standards of safety and reliability. Alborn believes these investments are crucial, as preventing accidents not only protects workers but also significantly reduces long-term operational costs.
In addition to the K25 axle lines, the company has integrated a MAN TGX 41.640 8×4/4 tractor unit, which is equipped with a 640 hp engine and boasts impressive torque for pushing and shunting heavy loads of up to 500 tonnes. This vehicle is optimized for demanding conditions, ensuring smooth and safe transportation even on gradients of up to 1.6 percent. The advanced braking system, including a reinforced Turbo EVB engine brake and Intarder III, further enhances the safety of the entire transport process.

By investing in both the Scheuerle K25 axle lines and the powerful MAN TGX tractor unit, August Alborn is well-equipped to handle an expanding range of heavy transport tasks, ensuring both flexibility and safety in every project.
