Eiffage’s subsidiary, Eiffage Génie Civil, has secured a €234 million contract for the construction of a new section of the E18-E39 motorway in Kristiansand, Norway. The project, commissioned by Statens Vegvesen, aims to enhance capacity on the main route to the city center and port facilities. The 1.4-kilometer bidirectional two-lane motorway will be built in a dense urban environment, featuring 12 engineering structures, reconstruction of 1.5 kilometers of railway lines, redevelopment of the existing ferry terminal, and installation of electrical and traffic engineering equipment.

To achieve the BREEAM “Excellent” Label and be designated a “low-carbon energy pilot” by the Norwegian government, the project will utilize innovative solutions from Eiffage Group companies. Eiffage Route’s GB5 asphalt and Biophalt asphalt with biosourced binder will be used for carriageways, cycleways, and pavements.

The construction, organized in four phases, will commence after a year of studies, ensuring uninterrupted road, rail, and cycle traffic, as well as continued access to marine infrastructure. The project is set for completion in mid-2029, reinforcing Eiffage Génie Civil’s presence in Norway, where the company is concurrently working on the design and construction of E18 motorway sections between Langangen and Rugtvedt for Nye Veier, owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport.
