Eiffage has secured a major infrastructure contract in Germany as part of a consortium with Mostostal Kraków for the replacement of two key bridges and associated access roads in Nuremberg. The project has a total value of €110 million, with Eiffage’s share amounting to €95 million.
The contract has been awarded by the City of Nuremberg and forms part of Germany’s wider infrastructure modernisation programme aimed at upgrading ageing transport networks and improving long term sustainability, safety and traffic flow.
The project involves the replacement of two dual carriageway bridges, both of which will incorporate pedestrian and cycle lanes. The existing structures no longer meet current operational requirements and are set to be replaced by modern engineering solutions designed to accommodate future transport demands.
One of the project’s most technically demanding elements is a new 105 metre bridge crossing the Main Danube Canal. The structure will feature a prefabricated steel monobloc superstructure that will be pre assembled before being transported by waterway to its final location. Once installed, the bridge will be distinguished by its elliptical arch design.
The second bridge will span the A73 motorway and measure 62 metres in length. To minimise disruption to road users, the new structure will be constructed alongside the existing bridge, allowing traffic to continue flowing throughout the construction period. Like the canal crossing, the bridge will feature elliptical arches and a steel construction.
Work on the project is expected to continue until the end of 2030.
The award further strengthens Eiffage’s position in Germany, where the company continues to benefit from significant investment in infrastructure renewal. The Group employs approximately 9,700 people across Germany and generated revenue of €2.8 billion in the country during 2025 across its various business activities.
