MacGregor, a division of Cargotec, has been selected to supply RoRo equipment for two pioneering Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTC) powered by methanol. These vessels are commissioned by China Merchant Energy Shipping and will be constructed at China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. in China. This significant order was logged in Cargotec’s order book during the third quarter of 2023. The delivery of these vessels to the owner is scheduled for the transition from the third to the fourth quarter of 2025.

MacGregor’s scope of work encompasses the design and provision of critical components, including external and internal ramps, covers, electrically operated doors, and liftable car decks, as well as offering installation support.

Notable features of this order include innovations such as Soft Flaps, designed to reduce noise in the harbor, and the Ramp Position Indicator, a unique stern ramp landing surveillance system that allows the crew to precisely visualize the ramp’s landing location before commencing operations.

As CMES is an important PCTC operator, we are pleased to be part of their new projects for the first time. We will do our best to build trust and cooperation in the future. We also have high appreciation for the very good cooperation with CMHI in many ongoing projects,” says Magnus Sjöberg, Senior Vice President, Merchant Solutions, MacGregor.
