JASO Industrial Cranes has secured a contract with Sheffield Forgemasters to design, supply, and install seven overhead cranes for the company’s new Heavy Forge at the Brightside Lane site in the UK. The Heavy Forge will be one of the most advanced forging lines in Europe, with a lifting capacity of 20 to 380 tonnes, making it the largest of its kind in the UK.

JASO Industrial Cranes will provide a range of cranes for the project, including a 25-tonne crane, two 100/20 tonne capacity cranes, one 180/40 tonne capacity crane, one 250/50 tonne crane, and two main 380/120 tonne forge cranes. Sheffield Forgemasters’ Manufacturing Transformation Director, Steve Marshall, commented that JASO Industrial Cranes was selected for its experience in supplying cranes for hot metal and steelworks, which is critical for the project.

Sheffield Forgemasters specializes in the design and manufacture of high-integrity forgings and castings for the most complex engineering challenges worldwide. The company was recently acquired by the Ministry of Defence, who plan to invest significantly over the next decade to revamp the defense-critical equipment and plant on site.

The cranes are expected to be delivered and installed between March and July 2025. JASO Industrial Cranes is thrilled to bring its extensive experience in designing and manufacturing overhead cranes for such facilities to this project.
