On January 18th at 5:30 PM, the Federal Raser (200mL/24mL), a bulk carrier, passed through the large lock in the port of Caen-Ouistreham, carrying 24,200 T of wheat. This marks a record tonnage transported from the port, and confirms that the new guidance system for wider vessels (from 24 to 27.4 m) passing through the Ouistreham locks meets international standards and justifies the heavy investment in the port’s economic future.

By choosing the Port of Caen-Ouistreham, the owner of the Federal Raser validates the investments (€12 million) of Ports de Normandie (€10 million) and its operator, the CCI Caen Normandie (€2 million) which have adapted the port to meet the needs of their customers. This record also demonstrates the quality of the know-how of the teams, those of the Ports of Normandy, the CCI, the port officers, the pilots and, beyond that, of the entire Caen port community thanks to which the port is starting this year 2023 with the wind in its sails,” said Hervé Morin, President of Ports de Normandie.
