Volvo Group is establishing a dedicated mining business to bring its trucks, construction equipment and autonomous solutions together under a single structure for mining customers and contractors.

Volvo Mining will launch on 1 January 2027 and will be hosted within Volvo Construction Equipment, with responsibility for coordinating the Group’s mining offer, product and service portfolio management and related research activities.

The new entity will initially focus on Sweden, Norway and Finland before expanding progressively into additional markets.

The move reflects growing demand across the mining sector for integrated equipment and technology covering excavation, loading, hauling and transport, particularly as operators place greater emphasis on productivity, safety, automation and emissions reduction.

“Mining has been an important part of the Volvo Group for decades, but the industry’s growing significance calls for an even greater level of focus,” said Melker Jernberg, President of Volvo CE.

Volvo Mining will combine capabilities from Volvo CE, Volvo Trucks and Volvo Autonomous Solutions, allowing the Group to offer a more integrated approach to mining operations.

“By combining our proven autonomous technology and operational experience with Volvo Group’s broader expertise, portfolio and customer relationships, we can provide integrated solutions that also deliver measurable value for mining customers,” said Nils Jaeger, President of Volvo Autonomous Solutions.

Per-Erik Lindström, currently Senior Vice President Volvo Trucks International, has been appointed Head of Volvo Mining and will take up the role when the new organisation launches.

“Our goal is to be a long-term partner in that transformation, helping customers create greater value through the combined strengths of Volvo Group,” said Per-Erik Lindström, incoming Head of Volvo Mining.
