JSI Alliance completes India berth project

JSI Alliance has successfully completed a major heavy lifting and marine transportation project in India in support of a new liquid cargo berth being developed for Gujarat Chemical Port Ltd..

The project was carried out for Afcons Infrastructure Limited, which was contracted to construct the new berth at the port facility.

JSI Alliance’s scope included the transportation of 18 oversized components from Dighi Port to Dahej and their subsequent installation at the new berth over six separate voyages. Lift weights ranged from 50 tonnes to 600 tonnes.

Operations were performed using the heavy lift vessel Jumbo Javelin equipped with a Fly Jib configuration to handle the varying lift requirements.

The project presented several operational challenges, including strong currents that prevented the use of dynamic positioning systems during installation. To overcome this, JSI Alliance installed a temporary eight-point mooring system onboard the vessel, which was connected to pre-laid anchors to maintain stability throughout the lifting operations.

Working in close coordination with two support vessels, the first installation campaign was completed in December 2025. The final phase of the project was successfully concluded in March 2026.

According to JSI Alliance, the project highlighted the importance of teamwork, engineering expertise and close coordination between all parties involved to ensure the safe and efficient execution of complex marine construction activities.
