British International Freight Association appoints Steve Murray as regional representative for its newly created Central Region, a move aimed at strengthening engagement with corporate members across the Midlands.

The new region covers companies based in the home counties north of London and extends north to Nottingham, west to Birmingham and east to Peterborough. The restructuring is designed to improve regional support for members and reduce the geographic area previously overseen by Andrew Melton.

Melton had been responsible for representing members across a wide area stretching from north of Milton Keynes to the Scottish borders. Under the new structure, he will now focus exclusively on members located across Northern England.

Murray brings extensive experience from the logistics and supply chain sector. Most recently he worked at FedEx Logistics, the freight forwarding arm of FedEx. Earlier in his career he held several senior leadership positions at DHLwithin its International Supply Chain division, and also worked at Exel.

According to BIFA director general Steve Parker, the appointment reflects the association’s strategy to strengthen relationships with members and raise its profile across the UK logistics community. He noted that Murray’s multimodal expertise and experience across the full supply chain will bring valuable insight and support to members in the Central Region.

The appointment completes BIFA’s team of six regional representatives, who work closely with members throughout the UK and act as the association’s local point of contact across its regional network.
