Bertling Logistics has successfully completed the transport of a 60 MVA power transformer from the Port of Southampton to a solar farm site in Selby, United Kingdom, supporting the continued expansion of renewable energy infrastructure across the country.

The transformer, weighing 48 metric tons and measuring 5.9 metres by 3 metres by 3.8 metres, was collected from Southampton on Friday afternoon. It was transported to a nearby heavy haulier’s depot, where it remained securely stored on the trailer over the weekend. Final delivery to site and offloading were completed on Monday afternoon, following careful coordination and planning.

The project was managed by Bertling’s UK team, ensuring safe handling throughout each phase of the operation. The move required close collaboration with specialist heavy haulage partners and precise scheduling to meet site requirements and minimise risk.

In addition to the main transformer unit, remaining ancillary components will be delivered in week 51. For this phase, Bertling will position a smaller mobile crane on site to assist the client with final assembly works, including the installation of radiators, bushings and other critical components.
