M.J. van Riel has announced a major expansion with its agreement, finalized last Friday, to acquire all activities of Martens Transport. The strategic acquisition reinforces M.J. van Riel’s footprint within the transport and logistics sector and marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy.
Under the agreement, Martens Transport will continue operating from its existing Oosterhout location but under a new name: Martens Industrial Movements. This site becomes the fifth branch of M.J. van Riel, joining existing locations in Tilburg (headquarters), Moerdijk, Oss, and Eindhoven.
The new name ensures continuity of Martens’ long-standing heritage—spanning more than a century—while aligning the business with M.J. van Riel’s organizational structure. In addition, crane operations and industrial relocation services will be further expanded at the Oosterhout branch, boosting the group’s presence in North Brabant.
As part of the acquisition, all assets, customers, and personnel of Martens Transport will transition into the M.J. van Riel organization. This integration secures business continuity and enhances service capabilities for the existing customer base.
“We are extremely pleased with this acquisition and the strengthening of our network,” said Martin van Riel, Managing Director and owner of M.J. van Riel. “Martens Transport is a company with an excellent reputation, and we are convinced that this integration will offer benefits not only for our customers but also for our employees. Together, we will continue to shape the future. Next year, we will be celebrating our 80th anniversary, and we are delighted to celebrate this with a wonderful company like Martens within our ranks.”
