Nuh Çimento has strengthened its export-driven logistics chain with the installation of a new Liebherr LPS 420 portal crane at its private port in Hereke, Türkiye. Located along the Gulf of İzmit, the terminal is a key maritime gateway for the company, handling high-volume clinker and cement shipments to more than 40 countries.
The electrically driven LPS 420 is now supporting continuous bulk handling operations, offering reduced fuel consumption, lower emissions and quieter performance. Equipped with Liebherr’s closed hydraulic slewing system and the advanced Litronic control platform, the crane delivers smooth rotation, precise load management and improved cycle times—capabilities well suited to abrasive materials handled at the terminal.
The upgrade marks a generational shift for the port. The new unit replaces an LPS 400 that had been in service since 1999, the first portal slewing crane Liebherr ever delivered. After more than two decades of operation and rising maintenance requirements, Nuh Çimento selected the LPS 420 to ensure operational continuity and greater efficiency. Installation was completed on schedule under Liebherr supervision, with the customer praising the seamless process and intuitive operation.
The port’s infrastructure supports the crane’s high-throughput performance, with a 595-metre berth for vessels up to 80,000 DWT and a 300-metre underground conveyor system enabling rapid cargo transfer.
Beyond productivity gains, the electric drive strengthens compliance with evolving environmental regulations and helps mitigate rising energy costs. Liebherr’s regional service network also remains a key factor in ensuring crane availability for Nuh Çimento’s round-the-clock shipping schedule.
