Aktio (Thailand) Co., Ltd., an equipment rental company, has made a strategic shift by placing a landmark order for 13 Volvo EW145B Prime wheeled excavators. This is the largest single order of its kind in Thailand this year and marks Aktio’s first-ever purchase of Volvo machines, traditionally favoring Japanese brands.
The deal was secured by Volvo Construction Equipment and its trusted Thai dealer, Chairatchakarn Bangkok (CHAB). With Thailand’s urban infrastructure projects rapidly expanding—such as the BTS Sky Train and major roadways—Aktio opted for the compact, mobile, and efficient 14-ton Volvo machines to meet growing demand in congested construction sites.
The EW145B Prime is praised for its high performance, fuel efficiency, and superior mobility—essential traits for contractors needing reliable, cost-effective solutions in urban environments. Delivery of the 13 units is scheduled to align with project timelines, with the final machines arriving by June 2025.
“We’re extremely pleased with the machines’ performance and the excellent support from CHAB,” said Yuichiro Abe, Managing Director of Aktio Thailand.
Raven Chua, Head of Market West at Volvo CE, added, “This deal shows how Volvo CE is adapting to the evolving needs of Thailand’s infrastructure sector.”
